Sometimes the best rides are the ones you don't plan, just jump on your bike and ride.  For me, these types of rides usually involve visiting a seafront somewhere or a nice overlook to get a great view and take in the scenery.

Last Sunday afternoon, late January 2015, was just such a ride.  I had nowhere in particular in mind, I just knew that I had to get out of the house for a bit and enjoy the freedom biking gives me.

It's been a few weeks now without riding.  For me as well as the vast majority of bikers, life gets in the way.  Not that that is a problem, of course, the fun has to be balanced with work after all.

Setting off from my house in the quiet Costa Blanca village of Senija, the sun was shining with a slight breeze, happy days.  The Suzuki was picked for the trip, it is the bike I ride most, especially after the mods we made in the Project GSXR series of articles.

Riding through Benissa and towards Teulada the roads are quiet and the Suzuki is purring along, a quick glimpse of the sea at Moraira as I head back inland again and on towards Javea (Xabia) seafront. Javea is a popular seaside town for holidaymakers and like my hometown of Scarborough in the UK, it's very busy in the summer.  Not so today the seafront is quiet with just a few surfers braving the cold water.

Next stop Cabo de San Antonio lighthouse which you can just make out in the picture above.

Along the Av. del Mediterraneo towards the old town of Javea taking in the sea air and the great views, I head inland a little before starting the climb up the side of Montgo.  At the top a sharp right and follow the road through the trees on towards the lighthouse.  It was a bit windy towards the end of the peninsula.

Motorcycling route near Javea Costa Blanca.

It's a wonderful view of Javea from up there, but you have to go a little further over the hill before Denia starts to come into view.  Pictures were snapped and the view enjoyed for a few minutes before heading back to the main road over the hill and down towards Denia port.

A quick ride along the new marina to watch the waves crashing over the sea defences before heading back to the road going inland again through the villages of Benidoleig, Orba, Alcalali, Jalon, Lliber and back home to Senija.

Distance: 48 miles or 78 Km

Watch for: Cars cutting corners on the Montgo section of the route
